Women's Soccer Heads to the Lone Star State for RRAC Matches

Presented by Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team heads to Texas for a pair of Red River Athletic Conference games this week against Texas College and Jarvis Christian University.
 
"We are looking forward to our first away trips in conference," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hamond said. "Two tough road trips this week that will be a good indicator for us to see how we are progressing as a group. The team is improving and excited for the upcoming games."
 
The Generals 3-3-1 (2-0-1 RRAC) are coming off a pair of wins last week against Paul Quinn College and the University of the Southwest.
 
SCOUTING TEXAS COLLEGE
The Steers are 0-4-0 on the season with an 0-3-0 mark in RRAC play. The lost their last two contests against Our Lady of the Lake, 6-0, and Texas A&M University-San Antonio, 7-0.
 
Texas College has allowed 26 goals for a goals against average of 6.16. Fatima Okif leads the Steers with three shots, one of which has been on goal. In net, Alexa Rodriguez and Katherine Salas combined for 55 saves.
 
The Generals are 9-0-0 all-time against Texas College. Last September, LSUA recorded a 12-0 victory.

Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 3.
 
SCOUTING JARVIS CHRISTIAN
The Bulldogs are 2-4-1 on the season with a 1-2-1 record in RRAC matches. In their last two matches, Jarvis Christian played to a 4-4 draw against Texas A&M-San Antonio before falling to Our Lady of the Lake 1-0.
 
Hariklia Sotelo leads the Bulldogs with four goals and eight points. Nancy Espino and Valerie Morales have each tallied three goals and one assist. Sotelo and Espino have notched game winners. Jarvis Christian has tallied 17 goals, averaging 2.43 per game, and allowed 12 for a goals against average of 2.29.
 
Andrea Cepeda has started six games in goal for the Bulldogs. In 630:00 minutes, she has allowed 16 goals and made 37 saves. Cepeda has one clean sheet on the year. Jazul Amaya has started one game in the woodwork. She allowed three goals and made two saves.

Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 5.
