Dalton Wilson Named RRAC Baseball Player of the Week

ALEXANDRIA, LA – Dalton Wilson of the Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team has been named the Red River Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced today.

Wilson went 11-for-15 at the plate this past weekend at the University of the Southwest (N.M.) for a .733 average. He recorded a pair of multi-hit games, including going six-for-six in the second game of the series. Wilson scored nine runs and drove in 12. He also swiped two bases and collected five extra base hits.

In the series finale, Wilson hit for the cycle. After being hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance, Wilson laced a triple to center in the second inning, knocking out the (usually) hardest portion of the feat. He then singled to right in the fourth. In the eighth, Wilson notched a double – leaving only a home run left to complete. In the ninth, Wilson came back to the plate and lifted a ball deep to center field. It caromed off the wall, allowing Wilson to race around the bases for an inside the park home run to complete the cycle.

Wilson's cycle is the third in program history and the first since Josh Bell completed the feat against Clarke on March 5, 2012.

The Generals host William Carey University on Tuesday, March 17, at 4:00 PM before welcoming Texas College on Friday and Saturday in RRAC play.
