PREVIEW | Men's Basketball Hosts #16 Stillman in NAIA National Championship First Round

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The one-seed Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team hosts 16-seed Stillman College in the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship First Round at The Fort on Friday, March 14.
 
"Stillman is a good basketball team," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "It's a reason they are conference champions. Big time match-up for us on Friday night here at the Fort. Our conference play has prepared us for this game. We've had some really good practices leading up to this game, so we feel good about where we are. The guys are focused and ready to play."
 
The Generals (28-2, 22-2 RRAC) won the Red River Athletic Conference Regular Season title and the RRAC Tournament for the second straight year. Jackson was named RRAC Coach of the Year for the second year in a row, while Kashie Natt earned his second RRAC Player of the Year and added Defensive Player of the Year to his mantle. Natt also earned RRAC Tournament MVP after scoring a season-high 36 points in an 88-79 win over Southwest (N.M.) in the Final.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., following the conclusion of #8 Nelson University and #9 Middle Georgia State which starts at 5:30 p.m.
 
SCOUTING #16 STILLMAN
The 16-seed Tigers are 18-11 on the season with a 14-4 record in the HBCUAC. The are 7-4 when playing on the road and 1-2 in neutral site contests.
 
Stillman fell to Philander Smith University, 79-69, in the second round of the HBUCAC Championship Tournament after winning the HBCUAC Regular Season Championship.
 
The Tigers average 73.1 points per game and are shooting 44.3% from the floor. They average 11.8 assists per game. Calvin Finch Jr. leads the Tigers in scoring, averaging 13.1 points per game. Michael Taylor (12.6), Joshua Price (12.0), and Jeremiah Miller (11.9) all average double-digit scoring efforts. Finch is shooting 60.5% from the field and has only taken five shots from beyond the three-point line. Miller is shooting 50.7% from the field, while Taylor is knocking down 40.8% of his chances from the field. Price leads the Tigers with 67 assists with Miller behind him at 63.
 
Stillman hauls in 36.6 rebounds per game and hold a margin of +2.5 over their opponents. They allow 69.7 points per game and hold a +3.4 scoring margin. Finch leads the Tigers' rebounding efforts, hauling in 9.5 boards per game. He also leads the Tigers in steals (31) and blocks (37). Behind him in rebounding is Miller (5.5) and Kyin Healey (3.6).
