MCKENZIE, TENN. – The No. 14 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball went to overtime with No. 17 Georgetown College and fell 94-87.
The Generals (3-2) were led by
EJ McQuillan with 25 points. He recorded a double-double, hauling in a team-high 11 boards.
Jordan Decuir (21) and
PD McCraney (19) also recorded double digit points. LSUA shot 32.43 percent from the floor and recorded 45 rebounds.
The Tigers (7-2) were led by Rashad Bishop's 26 points. Bubba Leavall (24) and Isaiah Mason (20) were also above 10 points. The Tigers shot 54.7 percent from the floor, including a 5-for-7 mark in overtime.
Georgetown took a 40-34 lead into the locker room at halftime.
A 6-0 run to open the second half from LSUA tied the game at 40-40. Both teams vied for control throughout the second but neither could pull away.
Bishop put the Tigers up by four, 67-63, with four-and-a-half minutes to play. Over three minutes, the Tigers doubled their lead to eight,73-65.
McQuillan knocked down a three before the Generals and Tigers exchanged free throws. A jumper from McCraney pulled LSUA within three, 75-72. He then knocked down a free throw and McQuillan converted a layup to tie the game with just 21 seconds remaining.
Zion Harmon and
Jordan Decuir exchanged threes in the opening possessions of overtime before three free throws from the Tigers gave Georgetown an 81-78 lead. A jumper from Bishop extended the lead to five and the Tigers never looked back.
LSUA plays Bethel University in their second game of the Centennial Bank Classic on Saturday, November 22, at 6:00 PM.
