MCKENZIE, TN – The No. 14 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team dropped a non-conference game to Bethel (Tenn.), 90-83.
"We better hurry up and figure out how to be better defensively, "LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We have to be consistent; we have to be disciplined. We have to be tough. We have to play harder."
EJ McQuillan led the Generals (3-3) with 25 points.
Jordan Decuir recorded 20 points, while
Jayce Tolivar (11), and
Kaleb Pouncy (10) also finished in double digits.
LSUA led through the majority of the first half, juggling a double-digit lead. They had their largest lead with 12:09 left in regulation.
The Wildcats knocked down 46.2 percent of their shots in the second half, holding the Generals to just 31 percent.
Chauncey Hughes III recorded a team-high 20 points in the back half, leading the Wildcats to victory.
A free throw from McQuillan tied the game at 83-83 with just 43 seconds left, part of a 9-0 run in which McQuillan scored all nine points.
Free throws from Hughes hauncey III sealed the victory for Bethel (Tenn.).
LSUA is back in action against Louisiana Christian for their opening game of Red Rifer Athletic Conference play and the Red River Rivalry.
