Generals Secure Doubleheader Sweep Against Texas College

ALEXANDRIA, La.- The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team completed a dominant doubleheader sweep against Texas College.
 

 
GAME ONE | LSUA 13, TC 0
The Generals threw a combined one-hitter and exploded for 13 runs in the series opener.
 
LSUA set the tone immediately in the bottom of the first. Julia Kwakernaak started the chain with a double to center field that brought home Haley Fontenot for the first run. Kwakernaak crossed the plate next from a wild pitch. With the bases loaded, Molly Sistrunk drove in two runs with a single to center field to make the score 4-0. To end the first, Kamille Lightfoot doubled to left center plating two more runs, extending the lead to 6-0.
 
In the second, Kilee Moody singled up the middle to score Kwakernaak and make it 7-0..
 
The Generals stayed productive in the bottom of the third. Lightfoot wen up the middle again, and brought home Caitlyn Riche.
 
LSUA kept the pressure in the fourth with a single up the middle from Kaetlyn Dunbar, driving in Kwakernaak for the ninth run of the game. Dunbar touched home on a wild pitch later in the inning. Jillian Howell followed with a single through the left side, scoring Moody. Riche smashed a double to left-center to score Cate Nettles. Lightfoot capped off the scoring with yet another double, this time to right center, driving in Riche to make the final score 13-0.
 
Lainee Bailey earned the win, making her 6-1 for the season, delivering three perfect innings. She did not allow a single hit or walk while striking out five of the nine batters she faced on 35 pitches.
 
Nettles followed with a scoreless fourth inning; she allowed three groundouts and no base runners. Alyssa Boutte closed out the game in the fifth, allowing just one hit while maintaining the shutout.
 
GAME TWO | TCU 0, LSUA 14
 
 The Generals (12-5, 4-0 RRAC)) continued to put numbers on the board against TCU (0-6, 0-5 RRAC) in the second match-up of the day.
 
In the first, Fontenot put the Generals on the board with an RBI groundout to third base that allowed Sophia Romero to score. Three batters later, Moody blasted a two-run home run to center field for a 3-0 lead.
 
Alyssa Soileau hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring home Howell in the second. Fontenot followed with a two-RBI double to left field to extend the lead to 6-0. Lightfoot added to the rally with a single that scored Fontenot.
 
The third inning was just as productive for the Generals. Soileau came through again with a two-RBI single up the middle, scoring Howell and Ryleigh Moran. Romero kept it rolling with a single to right field to plate Soileau. She crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
 
Raeley Duplechin doubled home Ryleigh Moran in the fourth, before LSUA capped the inning when Soileu reached on a fielding error, allowing Duplechin and Howell to score.
 
Kritsen Marinez takes the win improving to 2-0 for the season. She tossed three scoreless innings and allowed one hit. She faced 11 batters across three innings.
 
Soileau closed the final two innings for the Generals, allowing two hits and one walk while maintaining the shutout.

The Generals face Texas College at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 27, at the Generals Softball Field.
