Softball Completes Sweep of Texas College, 9-1

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team finished off a three-game sweep of Texas College in Red River Athletic Conference play with a 9-1 win in the series finale.
 
The Generals (13-5, 6-0 RRAC) scored at least one run in every inning, putting up crooked numbers in the third and fifth.
 
Kaetlyn Dunbar drove in pair of runs and collected two hits. Sophia Romero, Alyssa Soileau, Kilee Moody, Ryleigh Moran, Raeley Duplecin, and Caitlyn Riche each drove in a run. Samantha Hayes (1-1) tossed two innings of shutout relief for the win.
 
LSUA used a quarter of arms over the contest. Rylee Guillot got the start and allowed one run, one on hit, over two innings. Lainee Bailey and Alyssa Boutte each tossed one shutout inning.
 
The Generals recorded 13 hits offensively, bringing their series total to 37. LSUA scored 36 runs across the series.
 
An RBI single from Dunbar in the first opened the scoring. The Steers answered in the second, scoring a run on a ground out.
 
In the Generals' half of the second, Romero drove a single to center to score Molly Sistrunk for a 2-1 lead.
 
Dunbar's second RBI came in the third on a double to center. Moody followed with a single of her own to plate Dunbar.
 
Hayden Cary roped a triple to left center in the fourth before scoring on a wild pitch for a 5-1 lead.
 
LSUA plated three runs in the fifth inning. Duplechin was the first to drive in a run; she notched a double to left center to score Moran. Riche followed with a sinking line drive single to left, plating Duplechin. Soileau then drove in Riche with a single to left.
 
The Generals' walked-off the Steers in the sixth with an RBI ground out from Moran. Madison Nelson led off the inning with an infield single before stealing second. She advanced to third on a ground out before Moran drove her in.
 
LSUA heads to the Gulf Shores Invitational next week. They open the tournament against Lindsey Wilson College on Friday, March 6, at 3:45 PM.
