ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team took both of their games against Brescia University (Ky.) and the University of Saint Franics (Ind.).
GAME ONE | BU 1, LSUA 5
Michael Sutton (3-1) earned the win for the Generals (9-5) in the opener. He tossed six innings and allowed just two hits.
LSUA plated a trio of runs in the first inning.
Fischer Einkauf roped an RBI double to right center beofre
Cameren Parks drove in Einkauf with an infield single.
Evan Rohlfs-Schadel then reached on an infield single of his own to score
Dalton Wilson.
Landon Langley scored on an error in the second inning, extending the lead to 4-0.
A productive ground out from
Trevor Dooley brought Rohlfs-Schadel in from third in the fifth.
The Bearcats got one run in on the last inning of the game with a Max Johnson RBI single to center field.
GAME TWO | SFU 7, LSUA 10
The Generals recorded 10 hits and 10 runs in the second game of the day against University of Saint Francis.
Zac Collins (1-0) earned the first win of his college career. He struck out four over 2.1 innings and allowed just one run on three hits.
Langley opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second.
The bats went quiet until the fifth inning, when both teams pushed runs across. Saint Francis drove in three with a sacrifice fly and a two-run double. In the bottom of the fifth
Zack Berry flew out to center field on a sacrifice fly which allowed Einkauf to touch the home plate.
The Cougars kept their momentum going, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth.
The Generals comeback came in the bottom of the sixth with a Cade LaBruyere double down the right field line which brought in
Trevor Dooley and
Landon Langley. With the bases loaded, the Generals scored another five runs from a walk and two hit by pitches. Langley then hit a sacrifice fly before Dooley singled home
Geoffrey Fontenot for a 10-6 lead.
Kasen Oribello scored the last run of the game on a wild pitch for the Cougars in the top of the eighth.
Eli Finley earned his first save of the season. He struck out two over 1.2 innings of relief.
