ALEXANDRIA, LA - The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team opens the 2026 season in the LCU Softball Tournament, their first game is against Nelson University (TX)

SCOUTING NELSON (TX.)
The Generals have a 1-0 lead over the Nelson Lions from a previous match-up in 2019. Last year, the Lions recorded a 22-27 record last season.  
 
The Lions' Sasha Jennings was named First Team All-SAC last season. Jennings led Nelson with a batting average of .465. She also led the Lions in runs scored with a total of 42.
 
SCOUTING CENTRAL BAPTIST
The Generals are 13-7 against the CBC Mustangs all-time. The Mustangs finished the 2025 season with a record of 31-27.
 
The team posted a batting average of .295 and an on-base percentage of .370. They hit a total of 31 home runs over the campaign. Their '25 season ended in the NAIA Opening Round.
 
 Melanie Phillips had a 2.31 WHIP in the 2025 season as a junior with the Mustangs. Alex Jeter had the fewest runs allowed on the team during the 2025 season, allowing 0 runs for 18 times.
 
SCOUT EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL (ARIZ.)
This is the first time the Generals will face the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Eagles. The Eagles are coming off a 28-13 overall record while going 14-6 in GSAC play.
 
The Eagle's hit .345 as a team, led by Leah Salas (.496) and Jade Bayless (.416). ERAU recorded 35 home runs and 257 runs scored.
 
In the circle, the Eagles posted a 2.82 earned run average and a WHIP of 1.40. They struck out 240 hitters as a staff. Vanessa Brink led the pitching staff with a record of 20-6 and an ERA of 1.73.
