ALEXANDRIA, LA – Three Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball players earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region honors, the NFCA announced.
Lainee Bailey and
Sophia Romero earned NAIA Region I First Team honors, while
Kaetlyn Dunbar was selected to the NAIA Region I Second Team.
Bailey was selected to the Region I First Team as a pitcher. She logged 144.1 innings on the season and compiled a 19-7 record. Bailey recorded an ERA of 2.18 and a WHIP of 1.34. She struck out 77 hitters over 31 appearances. She was a First Team All-RRAC selection and the RRAC Co-Pitcher of the Year.
Romero earned a Region I First Team selection as a utility player. She posted an average of .370 on the season with an on-base percentage of .451. Romero recorded 26 runs batted in and scored 58. She stole a team-high 48 stolen bases, placing her ninth in the NAIA. Romero earned an All-RRAC First Team selection and was the RRAC Newcomer of the Year.
Dunbar was named a Region I Second Team selection as an outfielder. She led the Generals' offense with an average of .425, eight home runs, and 60 runs batted in. Her RBI total puts her 21
st in the NAIA. Dunbar recorded 28 hits and scored 51 runs. She compiled an on-base percentage of .478 and a slugging percentage of .478. Dunbar was an All-RRAC First Team selection and the RRAC Player of the Year.
