ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team routed Texas College in the series opener, 21-7.
Texas College struck first in the first inning, with a grand slam by Jermaine Brown to take a 4-0 lead.
Cade LaBruyere quickly responded for the Generals, in the bottom half with a solo home run.
Fischer Einkauf followed with a sacrifice fly that brought in
Dalton Wilson, making it 4-2.
LSUA took the lead in the second inning by adding eight runs.
Trevor Dooley reached on an error that led two runs, Wilson delivered a single adding another run, and later scored on a steal sequence. Einkauf and
Brett Batteford added a few more hits allowing the Generals to plate runs on hits by pitches and walks.
Continuing with the momentum, LSUA scored five more runs in the third. A a sacrifice fly by
Lane Kratzer brought in Wilson, Batteford reached on a dropped third strike, allowing
Landon Langley to score,
Evan Rohlfs-Schadel singled to center field bringing in Batteford and Einkauf, and
Lane Patin reaching third base on an error allowing
Colin Ardoin to touch home.
The Generals added five more runs in the bottom fourth and one run in the fifth, extending the lead to 21-4. The Steers added three runs in the sixth.
Michael Sutton (5-3) earned the win on the mound for the Generals with 4.1 innings pitched. He allowed four runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out three.
LaBruyere and Einkauf both recorded two hits. Wilson scored four times, while Einkauf crossed the plate three times. Four different Generals each scored twice. Einkfauf drove in four runs.
Diego Rivera (0-2) was charged with the loss for Texas College after 1.1 innings pitched, allowing five runs (three earned) on three hits.
The Generals return tomorrow at noon for the second and third game of the series.
