Baseball Take RRAC Opener From Texarkana With Clutch Ninth Inning, 6-5

TEXARKANA, TX - The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team picked up a win in their Red River Athletic Conference opening game against Texas A&M-Texarkana, 6-5.

After three scoreless innings, the Generals (12-5, 1-0 RRAC) were able to break through with three runs in the fourth. Dalton Wilson reached first on an error and brought in Cade LaBruyere. Advancing on errors, Wilson was able to score the second run for the Generals. Evan Rohlfs-Schadel followed with a single to right field, bringing in Lane Kratzer.

The Eagles (5-10, 0-1 RRAC) got one on the board later on with a solo home run by Michael Caputo. Trevor Dooley extended the lead for LSUA by scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth.

Texarkana bounced back in the sixth and seventh innings, scoring four runs to take the 5-4 advantage.

Wilson came through for the Generals with a home run in the eighth, tying the game at 5-5. In the bottom half of the inning, a one-out triple seemingly set the Eagles up for the go-ahead run. Nash Tamplet struck out back-to-back hitters, stranding the go-ahead run at third.

The Generals took the lead in the ninth when Fischer Einkauf singled to left field to score Dooley.

Tamplet (1-0) earned his first win on the mound. He tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, including striking out the last two hitters of the game to seal the victory.

Dooley and Einkauf both recorded a pair of hits. Wilson had a team-high two runs batted in.

The Generals return to the field tomorrow for a doubleheader against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
