Men's Basketball Reaches 20-Win Mark for Third Consecutive Season With 60-49 Win Over UNTD

CEDAR HILL, TX – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team cruised to a 60-49 win over the University of North Texas-Dallas.

Jordan Decuir led the Generals (20-7, 17-4 RRAC) with 16 points. EJ McQuillan also finished in double digits with 10 points. TJ James recorded a team-high 10 rebounds.

The win puts LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson at 75 for his career at LSUA. It is also the third consecutive season the Generals have won at least 20 games and second consecutive season with 10 or more road wins.

"Really good team win by our guys," Jackson said. "We struggled offensively but we found a way and that's all we can ask for at this time of the year. We have to have short-term memory and get back to work to get ready for Saturday."

Orion Virden scored a team-high 14 points of the Trailblazers (10-15, 9-12 RRAC). He was accompanied by Greg Crawford (12) in double digits.

The first half was a low-scoring affair. The Generals and Trailblazers combined for just 46 points.  LSUA shot 31.9-percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, while UNTD shot just 26.32-percent. The lead changed hands twice in the first half and with under three minutes left in the period, a 7-0 run from the Generals gave them an eight-point, 26-18, advantage.

A pair of free throws from Crawford with under 30 seconds on the clock sent the teams into the locker room with the Generals ahead 26-20.

Scoring picked up in the second half for both LSUA and UNTD with the Generals taking a 34-29 edge in scoring during the backend, including going 13-for-13 at the free throw line.

The Generals reached their first double-digit lead of the night under three minutes into the second. A 7-2 score line in the opening 3:17 of the half pushed LSUA to a 33-21 lead. LSUA reached its largest lead of the game, a 16-point gap, in the final 90 seconds of play.

LSUA closes the regular season on the road at the University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Saturday, February 21, at 3:00 PM MT (4:00 PM CT).
