ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball took down Texas A&M-San Antonio, 79-64, in Red River Athletic Conference play.

Justice Young led the Generals (12-12, 11-8 RRAC) with 17 points. She finished 7-for-11 from the field, including a 1-for-1 mark from long range and went 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Young also recorded nine rebounds and two steals. Sydney Person (13), Princis Goff (11), and Kaitlyn Blake (10) all reached double digits. Goff notched a double-double, recording a team-high 10 rebounds. The Generals recorded 34 points in the paint, 13 points off turnovers, 14 second chances, and the bench chipped in 28 points.

Hailee Brandon led the Jaguars (18-7, 15-4 RRAC) with 15 points. Aniyah Lewis (12), Evelyn Lorenzo (11), and Kierra Sanderlin (11) also recorded double digits points.

A back-and-forth first half delivered a 32-32 tie headed into halftime. Both the Generals and Jaguars led by five points at least once over the course of the first two periods. Runs from either side negated the advantages. A&M-San Antonio's largest lead of the game came in the first seven minutes, a 14-9 gap.

Six consecutive points from Young over a span of 1:31 flipped the score in favor of LSUA, 15-14. Reese Stephens ended the first with a three for an 18-14 lead.

Midway through the second, a run from the Jaguars gave them a 21-20 lead. They out scored LSUA 18-14 in the second quarter.

Trailing by four early in the third, a pair of jumpers from Addison Walker and Person tied the game at 38-38.  Blair Smith then went to the line and converted both of her free throws for a 40-38 lead.

LSUA led for the remainder of the contest. A&M-San Antonio managed to cut the gap to one, 54-53, with just under eight minutes left in regulation but an outpouring of offense from the Generals pushed their lead to 20, 77-55, with 1:02 remaining.

The Generals led for 65.5-percent of the contest, 26:13, while TAMUSA held the lead for just 10:56.

LSUA plays their final regular season home game on Saturday, February 14, against Our Lady of the Lake University at 1:00 PM.
