LECOMPTE, LA – Haley Fontenot and Head Coach Richard Partridge of the Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team both hit career milestones as the Generals (2-0) picked up a pair of wins over Nelson University (Texas) and Central Baptist College (Ark.).
Partridge became the all-time coaching wins leader for LSUA, capturing his 110
th victory with a 10-5 win over Nelson. Fontenot became LSUA softball's all-time stolen base leader, notching her 68
th career stolen base in the season opener.
"It's nuts, honestly," Fontenot said. I don't know what to say about it, I love it."
Fontenot recorded 38 stolen bases, a career high, in 2025.
"It's been something that me and her have been poking fun of for a while," Partridge said. "We knew it was coming. Font is the epitome of leadership, she's the girl you want on your team at any point in time. To see her career and the progression, it has been fun to watch."
It took Partridge just three seasons, plus today, to achieve the milestone.
"It goes back to my players," Partridge added. "When you have good players, the coaching side is easy. I have told some people I don't think I'm a good coach but I'm a good recruiter and I get a lot out of my players. Doing it in three seasons has been awesome. I don't think that it has fully set in what that accomplishment really means because we are wanting to make that deep postseason run and this is just the first step to that.
