ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team won their fourth straight game with a 75-67 victory over the University of North Texas-Dallas.
"You're always grateful for the win," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "A lot of areas we have to be better in, got to be better at finishing. We were up by 16 or 18 and we went through a five-minute stretch where we weren't good on either end. But, shout out to the guys on being able to figure it out and play D."
PD McCraney led the Generals (12-6, 9-3 LSUA) with 20 points. He finished 5-for-8 from the field, including a 4-for-5 mark from long range, and went 6-for-6 at the free throw line.
Jordan Decuir added 12 points and
EJ McQuillan recorded 11. The Generals recorded 28 points in the paint.
Greg Crawford led the Trailblazers (6-10, 5-7 RRAC) with 17 points. He knocked down five of his seven shots from the field and seven of 11 from the free throw line. He led the Trailblazers with 14 rebounds. DaRyan Williams totaled 12 points and Jonathan Joseph finished with 10.
The Trailblazers held a slim lead for the first six minutes of the contest, before a pair of free throws from Decuir tied the game at 11-11. The Generals and Trailblazers traded points with the lead shifting between both teams until a three from McCraney put LSUA ahead 22-21.
McCraney's three opened a 9-0 run for LSUA as they took a 29-21 edge. A layup from Williams ended the scoreless streak and made it 29-23.
A layup from McQuillan with 33 seconds left in the first gave LSUA their first double-digit lead of the night, 39-29. The Generals took a 41-31 lead into the halftime break.
Halfway through the second, LSUA extended their lead to 20, 60-40.
The Trailblazers chipped away at the Generals' lead, cutting it to eight with 1:43 left in regulation. Inside the final 60 seconds, UNTD cut the deficit to five on a three-point play by Joseph. McCraney made four free throws in the final minute, alongside one from
Kheiri Haynes, to hold the lead for LSUA.
The Generals are back at home next week to host North American University and Xavier University (La.).
