Women's Soccer Shuts Out Wiley, 6-0

ALEXANDRIA, LA – Six different players scored goals as the Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team shut out Wiley University, 6-0.
 
"Started a little bit slow today," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hammond said. "I know we scored early, but we didn't' really get going until the last 20 minutes of the first half. The second half was much improved. We definitely challenged some of the girls at half time and tweaked a few things. We showed a lot more quality [in the second half]."
 
LSUA (2-5-0) outshot Wiley (4-3-0) 21-1. The Generals put 14 shots on goal.
 
Hannah May earned her first win and clean sheet of the season. She made one save on the afternoon.
 
Audrian Cruz tallied her first goal of the season just a minute into the contest. A corner from Sacha Backus rattled around the box before Cruz forced it home for an early lead.
 
Nelly Dallmann potted her first of the year in the 43rd minute. Dallmann took a pass from Backus and fired a shot goalward. It caromed off a defender and over the goal line for a 2-0 lead.
 
A minute later, Backus made it 3-0. She collected a pass on the wing from Dallmann and fired it from long range for the Generals' final goal of the first half.
 
Just 14 minutes into the second half, Sara Escribano García-Miguel put her third of the season over the line. She got in behind the defense and beat the keeper one-on-one for a 4-0 advantage.
 
In the 63rd minute, Carolina Anjos Pereira added another goal to the Generals' ledger. LSUA's final tally game in the 83rd minute. Cruz played a short pass to Pauline Göckeritz, who beat the keeper for her first of the year.
 
The Generals open Red River Athletic Conference play on Thursday, September 25, at home against Southwest (N.M.). Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM at the Generals Soccer Field.
