STERLINGTON, LA – The five-seeded Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team fell in the Opening Round of the RRAC Baseball Championship to four-seeded Our Lady of the Lake University, 11-3.
William Vice got the start for the Generals (23-27) and cruised through three innings of work before Mother Nature intervened. Vice had allowed only three base runners before a lightning delay halted the game.
Following the delay,
Brenyn Ebarb (1-7) took to the mound. He allowed five runs on five hits in three innings. Ebarb struck out two and walked five.
Blaise Foote and
Peyton Marcantel collected a pair of hits each. Foote drove in two, while Marcantel drove in one. The Generals finished with seven hits as a team.
Marcantel opened the game's scoring with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. The Saints (29-21) responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
A two-run double from Foote in the seventh made it a 5-3 game as
Julien Kliebert and
Lane Patin came around to score.
The Saints pushed across six runs in the eighth, staking out an 11-3 lead.
LSUA plays Huston-Tillotson on Friday, May 2, at 11:00 am at the Sterlington Sports Complex.
