Women's Basketball Falls to (RV) LSU Shreveport

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team fell to (RV) Louisiana State University Shreveport, 76-60, in a Red River Athletic Conference game.
 
Sydney Person led LSUA (2-6, 1-2 RRAC) with 13 points. She shot 60-percent from the field and hauled in six rebounds. Justice Young also finished in double digits, recording 10 points. She led the Generals with nine rebounds. Kelly Norris recorded a team-high seven assists.
 
The Generals knocked down shots at a clip of 38.2 percent. They recorded 11 second chance points, 18 points in the paint, and the bench chipped in 17.
 
"I though the girls did a good job," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "They maintained the gameplan well. We missed some big shots at times, couple rebounds, but I'm proud of their effort."
 
Paula Gonzalez (19), Selma Markisic (13), Toni Coleman (12), Sami Slusarek (11), and Ally Fleenor (11) all recorded 10 or more points for LSUS (8-2, 4-0 RRAC).
 
The Pilots scored 40 points in the paint and 27 points off 29 LSUA turnovers.
 
LSUA roared out to an 8-0 lead in the opening 90 seconds of the contest, their largest lead of the game. The Pilots answered with an 8-0 run over their own over the next two-and-a-half minutes, tying the game at 8-8. LSUS outscored LSUA 16-11 over the remainder of the first quarter for a 24-19 lead headed into the second.
 
After the Pilots worked their lead to eight early in the second stanza, the Generals chipped away and cut it to two midways through the period. A redoubled offensive effort from the Pilots expanded their lead to nine, 38-29, at halftime.
 
LSU Shreveport expanded their lead to double digits in the third, staking out an 18-point gap, 62-44, by the end of the third and held their advantage through the final buzzer.
 
The Generals are back at on home on Saturday, December 13, as they face Texas A&M-Texarkana at 1:00 PM.
