WAXAHACHIE, TX—The No. 13 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team held off No. 17 Nelson University, 70-68.
EJ McQuillan led the Generals (1-1) with 27 points.

"Really, really good team win," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "That's a god job by your guys in a tough environment. Nelson is well coached, they are good. That was an elite eight style of game on a back-to-back. We have a long way to go but we are grateful for this trip."
The Lions (2-1) held the lead for most of the first half, including lead 20-10 midway through the first. A 22-11 run from the Purple and Gold erased the lead. McQuillan,
Kaleb Pouncy, Decuir, and
Jayce Tolivar all recorded points in the run.
At halftime, the Generals led 39-36.
Four-and-a-half minutes into the second, the Lions evened the score, 44-44. They went up by four but a pair of free throws from Decuir and a three from
PD McCraney levelled the contest.
A jumper from McQuillan and a three-point play from Decuir gave LSUA a 54-49 lead.
The Lions chipped away at the Generals and pulled within one, 69-68, with just 17 seconds remaining. Decuir knocked down a free throw with three seconds remaining to seal the victory.
LSUA head to Tougaloo on Saturday, November 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
