PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team's season opener against Webber International (Fla.) was rained out in the bottom of the first inning.
 
The Generals (0-0) had staked out a 5-0 lead over Webber (0-1).
 
Madi Baker and Haley Primrose both recorded RBI singles, while Julia Kwakernaak notched a sacrifice fly. Kaetlyn Dunbar mashed a two-run home run but it was all for nought as Mother Nature intervened.
 
A light drizzle turned into a steady onslaught of rain, forcing a delay. After nearly 45 minutes of continuous rainfall, the game was called.
 
The game will not be made up.
 
LSUA is back In action Friday, January 31, with games against Central Christian and Central Baptist at Champions Park in Alexandria, La. as part of the LCU Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM, respectively.
