ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals started off their conference match up with Xavier University with an 8-1 victory.
The Generals came out guns blazing as Will Vice took the mound allowing only six hits and striking out seven Xavier batters. When it came to runs scored,
Blaise Foote got on the board first for the Generals scoring on a wild pitch.
After the first inning the Generals went up 2-0, but the real party got started in the 4
th inning of play when the Generals worked quickly to get on base with the help of a hit by pitch, clutch hits, a few walks, and a home run from
Keegan Garcia while two Generals were on base making it a 7-0 ball game in favor of the Generals by the end of the 4
th.
The Gold Rush and Generals added one run a piece in the 6
th inning, going scoreless for the last three innings of play, but the Generals had cushion to ride off with the win.
The Generals will wrap up the series with the Gold Rush on Saturday, April 6
th in double-header action with the first game at 12:00 PM. The Generals will also be honoring the seniors for senior day before the first game.
