Softball Sweeps Steers
ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals moved to a 3-1 Red River Athletic Conference record after a double-header sweep of the Texas College Steers.
GAME ONE: LSUA 5, TC 3
In the first inning of play, the Steers were able to get on the scoreboard first, but in the bottom of the inning, a solo shot from
Haley Fontenot got the whole lineup fired up as they went on to score three total runs in the first going up 3-1 on the Steers. Despite the Steers adding two more runs as the game went on, the Generals were able to pull out the win with a strong 1
st inning.
On the mound,
Haley Primrose got the win, facing 27 batters, striking out five.
GAME TWO: LSUA 7, TC 2
Game two's victory can be credited to a strong performance in the circle and dominate performance at the plate.
Taylor Spencer started off strong in the mound allowing only 2 hits and 1 run while facing 20 batters. Spencer pitched five innings striking out 6 Steers before
Savannah Boyd came in to close.
At the plate, the Generals saw two strong homeruns from
Haylee Ladner and
Haley Primrose. Ladner went 3-4 at the plate with 1 RBI while Primrose went 2-3 at the plate with 2 RBIs.
Up next the Generals will travel to Gulf Shores, AL for the Gulf Shores Invitational where they will play a total of 6 games and will take on some top ranked teams.
