Baton Rouge, LA- The Generals softball trip took a trip to Baton Rouge, LA to take on D1 opponents, the Jaguars of Southern University, in double header action where the Generals took game one but fell in a close game two.
GAME ONE: LSUA 8, SU 4
In a slug fest starting out, Ladner, Moody, and Ladner once again had homeruns within the first three innings of play putting the Generals up 3-1 before Wright doubled and Jones singled brining three more Generals around to close the 3
rd inning up with a lead of 6-1.
Although the Generals went scoreless until the 7
th inning where they added their last two runs,
Haley Primrose worked on the mound pitching all seven innings. Primrose allowed only 9 hits, four runs, and struck out 8 of the 32 batters faced.
GAME TWO: LSUA 4, SU 6
Game two fell in favor of the Jaguars as they got on the scoreboard first. Although the Generals made it a 2-2 tied ball game in the third inning, the Jaguars quickly answered back in the bottom of the fourth and fifth inning going up 6-2 before
Jillian Howell responded scoring on a wild pitch. The Generals were able to add two runs in the 6
th and 7
th inning but fell short.
Next up the Generals will be on the road for Red River Athletic Conference play as they take on the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana in double-header action on February 24
th. First pitch for game one is set for 1:00 PM.
