No. 3 Generals Capture Red River Rout, 82-62, Over Wildcats

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The No. 3 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team completed a rout over Louisiana Christian University in a Red River Rivalry match-up, 82-62.
 
Kashie Natt scored 18 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the field. He added 14 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. EJ McQuillan (15), Brayden Thompson (14), and Jakemin Abney (12) all contributed 10 or more points. McQuillan finished 5-for-7 from deep. Thompson went 6-for-7 from the field and added a block and two steals.
 
"I thought it was a good win," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "LCU is a good team. On any given you can beaten, LCU is the same team that went to [LSU] Shreveport, a Top 25 team, and beat them. Credit to our guys, our coaching staff."
 
The Generals (7-1, 4-1 RRAC) shot 44.7 percent from the field, including 54.55 percent during the second half. They recorded 26 points in the paint, 15 points off turnovers, 15 second chance points, and the bench tallied 31 points.
 
LSUA held the Wildcats (3-6, 2-4 RRAC) to a shooting percentage of 37.9 percent from the field and only a 28.6 percent mark from long range.
 
The Generals stormed out to an eight-point lead in the first four minutes with a 12-4 run. Three minutes later, however, the Wildcats managed to cut the lead to 15-12. A pair of free throws from Abney and a three-point play for LCU made it a 17-15 contest.
 
Another offensive run opened for the Generals. Three consecutive threes from Jordan Decuir and Abney made it 26-15. A three-point play from Abney extended the Generals' advantage to 29-15, bringing the run to 12-0 with six-and-a-half minutes left in the opening stanza.
 
The Wildcats managed to cut their deficit to eight, 38-30, as they went to halftime.
 
An emphatic dunk from Thompson opened the second half scoring and pushed the Purple and Gold to a 40-30 advantage. LSUA's lead never dipped into second digits afterward.
 
The Generals outscored the Wildcats 44-32 in the second half, knocking down 18 shots. McQuillan drained four of his five threes in the second, including a pair which helped extended LSUA's lead to 22 with 11:14 to play.
 
Following McQuillan's threes, The Generals never led by less than 20 for the final 11 minutes.
 
LSUA is on the road for a pair of Red River Athletic Conference games this week. They travel to the University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Thursday, December 5. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 PM CT.
