NEW ORLEANS, La. –
Hille Baumfalk's second career goal and six saves from
Victoria Weber led the Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the RRAC-leading Xavier University (La.) Gold Nuggets.

Mark Hammond said. "The girls executed the game plan and showed trenmendous grit. We scored a great team goal and deserved the result today."
The Generals (9-5-2, 8-2-2 RRAC) finished with seven shots, while XULA (11-4-1, 10-1-1 RRAC) totaled 22. LSUA put five of their chances on goal, compared to six from the Gold Nuggets. LSUA has won its last four matches.
Baumfalk's goal came in the 77
th minute after the Generals broke free from a barrage of chances from Xavier (La.). With the siege broken, Ksenjia Pavlovic found the freshman striker and Baumfalk delivered the game's only goal.
Weber's first save came in the sixth minute, an early test for the keeper. She was called on take make a pair of saves in the 13
th and 16
th minutes. Her final save of the half came in the 41
st minute denying Luci Schroeder a goal.
The Generals had a trio of shots on goal in the first half. Baumfalk's 23rd minute effort was stymied, was Pavlovic's 38
th minute chance.
Elke Tijink manufactured a chance early in the second half but was denied.
LSUA faced a cannonade from the 57
th to 72
nd minute. The Gold Nuggets unleashed 11 shots over the time frame. Weber made one stop in the flurry, coming against Julia de Souza in the 68
th minute.
Ellen Meijer nearly broke the deadlock in the 73
rd minute, but was stymied by the keeper.
Weber was called on again in the 77
th minute, keeping the Generals' 1-0 lead intact.
LSUA closes the regular season on Saturday, November 2, at North American University. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
