Generals Go 2-1 in Series with Jaguars

ALEXANDRIA, LA- The Generals took the field one last at home for the 2022-23 baseball season in a three-game series with the University of Houston Jaguars winning two out of the three.

GAME ONE: LSUA 6, UHV 3

It wasn't until the 3rd inning that Generals, Cameron Daigle responded with a single to center field bringing Mengarelli home after being down 3-0, making it 3-1 with the Generals still trailing, but Generals quickly took over in the 4th and 5th

Generals were able to put up three more runs in the 4th inning, and in true Jordan Ardoin fashion, he sent one flying over the center field fence with Foote on base sealing the win 6-3.

GAME TWO: LSUA 9, UHV 7

Generals were able to attack first putting up 5 of their 9 runs between the first through the fifth inning before the Jaguars were able to respond. The Jaguars put the Generals on the hot seat as they came out strong in the 6th inning scoring their seven runs now leading 7-5, but as the Generals headed into the bottom of the 6th, they were able to take back the lead putting up three more runs with the help of a double from Ardoin that brought home Foote and Kliebert. Then Ardoin was able to come home as he took advantage of an error by the Jaguars. Generals now leading 8-7. Cameron Daigle was able to extend the lead further in the bottom of the 7th as he singled to center field bringing Kliebert home for the Generals final run of the game.

GAME THREE: LSUA 7, UHV 11

Jaguars had the hot bats for game three as the Generals momentum didn't get going until the 5th inning after they scored one run in the first.  Heading into the bottom of the 5th the Generals trailed UHV 5-1, but seniors Cameron Daigle and Jordan Ardoin were able to cut the lead as Ardoin's single to left field brought in Kliebert and put Daigle on third base in scoring position. As the next General was up to bat, Ardoin faked a steal to second base and almost put in a run-down situation as Cameron Daigle stole home in the midst of it and Ardoin successfully able to move from 1st to 2nd base. As Daigle scored, he cut the Jaguars lead to just two runs. Jaguars were able to take advantage of General's pitching and took game three.

The Generals have moved to an overall record of 27-16 and 19-7 in Red River Athletic Conference play. Next up they will take on D1 opponent McNeese State University for an exhibition match up before return to finish out conference play against Texas College. First pitch against the McNeese Cowboys is set for 6:00 PM on April 25th in Lake Charles, LA.
